Activity: Smaller snail shells are removable using velcro.
Lesson: Shapes, primary colors (I realize green isn’t a primary color, but a needed a fourth color!)
Materials:
- Felt:
- 1 white sheet
- 1/2 grey sheet
- Scraps of red, blue, yellow, and green
- Felt glue
- Sharpie
- 4 velcro dots
Directions:
- Draw four bodies of the snail onto the grey felt. Cut them out.
- Draw two circles on the red felt, one slightly smaller than the other. Cut them out.
- Draw two triangles on the green felt, one slightly smaller than the other. Cut them out.
- Draw two diamonds on the blue felt, one slightly smaller than the other. Cut them out.
- Draw two squares on the yellow felt, one slightly small than the other. Cut them out.
- Glue down the four snail bodies onto your white felt. Make sure to leave the one inch for binding.
- Glue down the larger shapes so they look like the snail shells.
- Velcro two dots together. Place a small amount of felt glue on the back of both sides, then glue the clear dot to the center of the large shape and the white dot to the back of the smaller shape. Repeat with the other three shapes.
- Draw two little eyes and a mouth on the snails using a Sharpie. If you are talented enough you could also cut these out of felt.
- Done!
